To install FileMaker Pro:
1. Launch the FileMaker Pro 4.1 Installer by double-clicking the Start Here icon.
2. If you need more information about using the Installer, follow the instructions that start with step 5 on page 1-3 of the FileMaker Pro Installation & New Features Guide.
The table on pages 1-8 and 1-9 of the installation guide shows all the files that can be installed using the FileMaker Pro installer.
Important: This CD-ROM contains some additional files that are not installed by the FileMaker Pro Installer. Instructions for accessing these files are included in "After you have installed FileMaker Pro", later in this document.
New features in FileMaker Pro 4.1
Chapter 4 of the FileMaker Pro Installation and New Features Guide provides a description of the following new features:
• FileMaker Pro 4.1 enables you to import data via Open Database Connectivity (ODBC). If you have ODBC drivers installed and configured, you can import data from a number of ODBC-compatible data sources.
• In FileMaker Pro 4.1, you can see and use features enabled in the FileMaker Pro Developer Edition application, such as Kiosk mode, custom menus, and the removal of master access.
• FileMaker Pro 4.1 now provides cross-platform support for the new European currency symbol. To use the Euro symbol with FileMaker Pro, you must also be using an operating system and font that support the new symbol.
After you have installed FileMaker Pro
Note: You must have FileMaker Pro 4.1 installed to use the following databases.
• If you want to browse the FileMaker Solutions Guide, double-click the FSA_Main icon, which is located in the FSA Directory folder in the Developer Information folder. You can also open this database by choosing Open from FileMaker Pro's File menu and selecting the FSA_Main database in the Open File dialog box.
• If you want to join the FileMaker Solutions Alliance, double-click the FSA Application Installer, which is located in the FSA Application folder Developer Information folder, and follow the instructions provided on the screen.

The FileMaker Solutions Guide is a set of FileMaker Pro databases designed to make it easy for you to locate a wide variety of software applications and support services available for FileMaker Pro and the FileMaker family of software products.

The FileMaker Solutions Alliance is an organization of professionals whose work is dedicated to ensuring that you get the most out of your FileMaker products. This alliance has been assembled to give you access to the computing solutions you need, giving you the freedom to focus on managing your business, rather than having to worry about your computing systems.
